When you should not build an MVP yet

Shipping fast is a virtue. Shipping a blur is a waste. Here is when I tell people to wait — including when they should buy a website instead.

Startup Liftoff exists to ship a slice in 2–4 weeks. It is a bad purchase if you do not know who it is for. A free scoping call exists so we can say no.

You cannot say it in one sentence

If the pitch needs a slide for the industry, a slide for the tech, and a slide for “later we add AI”, you do not have a v1. You have a mood. Spend a week talking to five people who would pay. Then come back.

The list has forty features and no user

An MVP with everything is a delayed agency project. Cut until one person can finish one action. Auth and payment only if that action requires them. Notifications, native apps, and a custom admin for six roles wait.

You actually needed a shop website

A plumber who wants “an app” often needs Maps, a phone number, and a page that loads. That is the 900€ site, not a 5,999€ product. Mixing the two makes a slow, expensive brochure.

If after the call it is still a product, we scope it. If it is a local business problem, we say so. Either answer is a successful call.

Julien Bardin builds modern websites for local businesses (Google, Maps, AI visibility) and ships startup MVPs in 2–4 weeks. From €900 + €25/mo for websites, or from €5,999 reference price for most SaaS & app projects. Book a free call.
